ChumpChange was a payment platform that waived credit card fees on micro-transactions, like coffee or gum, to help consumers save & invest their spare (chump) change and ultimately bank smarter.
We started at the beginning, researching “the color of value”…

In our exploration, we discovered that “chump” is one of the few words that can be used as an ambigram: a word, number, or design that can be read or viewed from a different perspective and still retain meaning. The word “chump” happens to be a rotational ambigram:

So from that, the team at HEART created the identity for
ChumpChange
After the brand development, the team at HEART created a unique Point Of Sale system intended to stand out from the typical plastic & tech-heavy rotating devices. The idea was to create a setup that flipped back and forth, like an ambigram, while simultaneously looking for manufacturing techniques that would produce an elegant product and be able to easily do so in small numbers as the company scaled.
